Voice Recital

May 27th, 2007

As you know (if you’ve read this blog for very long!), the girls and I take voice lessons from Char’s Mom Mrs. H. Today was the recital! We sang:
Turn your Eyes,
Battle Hymn of the Republic,
The Sunbeam Song,
Stand Alone,
Amazing Grace,
Shopping,
Happy Birthday (to Jayden),
and Turn your Eyes.

Our last voice lessons, Eric came, and he was making faces at us to make us laugh. Well, guess who made us laugh? Dad! On the Battle Hymn of the Republic, he pretended he was playing a fife and drums, and I burst out laughing! *blush*

The shopping song is from a one-act operetta, and the lyrics are pretty cute!

Shopping
Shopping, shopping, shopping we’ve been shopping!
Hopping, hopping, hopping yes it keeps one hopping!
You may think it only play, looking over clothes all day, but to us it’s not that way!
Shopping, shopping, styles or prices are not right…aggravating!
Or the clothes make you a sight! Agitating!
Shopping, shopping, shopping we’ve been shopping!
Hopping, hopping, shopping!
Some clothes are shocking, your good taste mocking, with colors glaring in your sight!
The sizes vary, your patience worry with fear that they will not be right!
Some clothes are pleasing, some clothes are freezing, some clothes are beautiful to see!
With styles so changing, and prices ranging, what pleases you may not please me.

Before the shopping song, we had this big paper bag full of gaudy, girly stuff…and Mrs. H. handed the bag to me (since I was first in line) and I took out a hat and put it on…then held the bag for Char, who took a scarf, and she held it to Em, and so on until we all had something…made quite a visual, methinks!

It was a lot of fun, and we hung out for a long time afterwards, talking. Joe took a bunch of pictures, as did Mr. H., so I expect to have some pictures to post in the near future!
