You know what bothers me (no you don’t so I’ll tell you!) is everybody starts holidays wayyy before they actually are! For instance, there were stores putting out Christmas stuff BEFORE Halloween! What’s the point of that?? Why not just celebrate every holiday in its own time, instead of rushing things?
Maybe because the stores want to make sure people buy all their Christmas stuff before it goes on sale!

Well. I’ve probably said this before, but I’ll say it again. We have this little tradition, of staying up on November 30th until midnight. The reason is, we can only listen to Christmas music in the month of December. From 12am December 1st until 12am January 1st. At midnight, we turn on all the radios or CD players we can get our hands on (save the computer ones) with Christmas music. Our favorites are Mannheim Steamroller, An Old Fashioned Christmas, Celtic Christmas, and Irish Christmas. And we like to listen to “the Christmas station”…aka “the all-sappy love songs all day long station” that plays only Christmas music from the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas. There, we hear stuff like Burl Ives (Holly Jolly Christmas), Madonna (Santa Baby), Elvis (Blue Christmas), Bing Crosby (I’ll be home for Christmas), Nat King Cole (Christmas Song), etc. Those are kinda fun, and I like singing them, but you can’t beat the ones with no words!

The kids are getting a little “previous”…some of the girls brought up some boxes of Christmas decorations already! BUT, tradition says, we absolutely cannot decorate UNLESS we are listening to Mannheim Steamroller, and eating M&M’s and drinking eggnog (sans the eggnog for Dad and I…it kind of reminds us of…uh, phlegm). Well, uh, anyways. Once upon a time we used to have hot apple cider, as well, but not anymore. But that’s ok! Dad and I usually just drink the milk Mom gets to mix with the eggnog.

They’ve also been getting out all the Christmas CD’s and tapes, all ready for tonight! I have a few of my own that I plan to play. We leave it on allll night so when Mom gets up in the morning…nice Christmas music is playing!

And so, in the words of Alvin and the chipmunks, “We can hardly stand the wait, please Christmas, don’t be late!”
