The other day was…well, exciting, to say the least!

Tuesday
As some of you may know, Mom’s been having high blood-pressure problems. Well, Tuesday was her scheduled doctor’s appointment, and she was going to get medicine to lower her blood pressure. She left around 12:30, and she was going to do some errands afterwards so she took Eric. Ben had an allergist’s appointment at the same time, so Mom met Ben at his work, and they took the van to the hospital.

At 2:15 we get a call (which Joe took) from Mom, and she said they were keeping her in the hospital overnight, and she would explain later. Half an hour later I tried her cell phone, and didn’t get an answer. Five minutes later Mom called from the hospital, asking if I called, and saying she’d call later still. I called my friend Char and talked to her for a little bit and had her pray. I was really upset right then…and Char prayed on the phone with me.

Around 3:30 Dad called wanting to talk to Mom, so I told him what I knew and gave him the hospital’s number and he called her, then called back and told me she was in the emergency room. Her blood pressure was really high, her heart was doing strange things, her chest felt tight…they had her hooked up to a bunch of monitors, thinking she was going to have a heart attack.

They kept her in the emergency room for six hours, monitoring her. I called my friend again, and David’s mom and one of Mom’s online friends after dad told me what was going on, because they had all been praying for Mom. A little after 7 pm Dad called, saying they moved Mom to a room, and her heart was normal and her blood pressure was normal! Praise the Lord! I called everyone back and told them the good news.

Wednesday
Wednesday morning I was awakened at 5am by the phone. “Who in the world would be calling at 5am?” I thought, then jumped out of bed thinking it might have been Mom. I looked at the caller ID, but it was a pay phone. “Oh, must have been a wrong number,” I thought. Then they called again. I answered, and it was Ben.
He said he was at Flying J; the van was starting to run out of diesel and he walked two miles to the gas station. So I woke Dad up to take him the rest of the 2 miles to work.

They let Mom out of the hospital around one, and Dad was there (he took the day off) so he took her out to lunch and they did the errands Mom was planning on doing the day before.

Then they came home and Dad and Ben got the van.

I think that was enough excitement to last me for a while! Now when someone says “what’s up?” I say “not much, and I’m glad!!”
