The Matter Of The Phone
I had a rather funny thing happen to me today, when I was simply trying to ask Eric to take a turkey out of the freezer. Sometimes funny things happen when you have a lot of phones, I guess.
Like I said, all I was trying to do was ask Eric to take the turkey out of the freezer. Well, I knew he and Ben were outside working on Ben’s pickup (he got his headers finally), and it’s Joe’s phone day today (they take turns), so I called Ben’s phone. Ben, or who I thought was Ben, answered. I thought to myself, “That sure sounds an awful lot like Joe. Maybe Ben’s just so engrossed in what he’s doing that his voice is different.” So anyways, I asked for Eric. Eric came on.
“Eric, can you please get the turkey out of the freezer for me?” I asked.
“Uhh…do you want it deep-fried?”
“Uhh…no, why?”
“Cuz my hands are covered in grease. Can’t you ask Joe to get it out? He’s not doing anything.”
“How do you know?” (I thought he was in the computer room.)
“He’s holding the phone up to my ear.”
I laughed so hard. “Oh! Well let me talk to Joe then.”
When Joe came on I asked if he’d answered the phone, and he said yeah, so I told him what I’d thought.
Turns out, Ben had called Checker (auto parts store) on Joe’s phone, which Joe was also holding to Ben’s ear! When I called, Joe had dug Ben’s phone out of his pocket or duct tape pouch thingy and answered, and then had held it up to Eric’s ear! When I told everyone at the dinnertable, Dad said, “Good thing you boys are so close!”
In case you haven't noticed, my name is Anne, but in RL it's pronounced Annie. At this moment in time I happen to be 21 years old. Herein you will find: The rants, rambles, and otherwise uninteresting happenings in the life of...well, ME, you might say.
