More Music

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I added a few (ok, well, a bunch) of songs to My Music. Two are violin (in kind of a string trio style), and if you look…one is with the diatonic* accordion Grammoo gave me! (Doing the only song I know on it! – Trust and Obey) Hope ya like ‘em!

*A diatonic accordion is one that has only buttons which play different notes depending upon whether you push or pull the bellows. A piano accordion has a piano-style keyboard on one side and buttons on the other and they all make the same notes.

Photographica

This post is VERY image-heavy, so most of the images are under the cut. The other day, Mom was gone and I got ahold of the little video camera, attached it to my computer via the firewire cord (which, by the way, my motherboard came with firewire, Joe had to BUY a firewire card!) which is only six feet long, that’s why most of the pictures have the same background (Darren’s monitor). We had too much fun, but it was fun! (By the way, the way the pictures have to be taken is someone holds the camera and someone else clicks the “Take New Picture” button on the computer.)

Handel’s Messiah

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Tonight’s the first Messiah sing-along rehearsal for this year! This time, Joe’s going to sing as well! Finally we convinced one of them guys to join us! Beth and Kate sing soprano, Em, Tess, and I sing alto. Joe sings tenor, most likely. I can sing tenor, too. For instance, my favorite recitative is the tenor’s first, “Comfort Ye” and “Ev’ry Valley”. The tenor they bring in to solo in the performance is from Utah, and he’s really good (I haven’t heard a tremendous amount of opera but from what I have heard, he’s very good!).

Well, I like going around the house singing “Comfort Ye” and “Ev’ry Valley”, because I think it’s a fun one to sing. At last year’s final practice (there’s only two! The soloists and orchestra accompany the last practice though), when the tenor did his solo, Tess leaned over and said to me “He sounds just like you!” (That was meant to be a compliment, by the way!)

Last year, like this year, the performance falls on Beth’s birthday! (The 9th, by the way…be sure to wish her a happy birthday then! ;) )

Well, I can’t seem to collect my thoughts very well, so I guess this will be all for now!
