No Competition
This just kinda struck me as funny, and I had to write about it. Yesterday was errands and lessons day, so as they were leaving, Joe told me to remember to watch out for UPS, because they were bringing something he bought. Well, we also were supposed to watch for the garbage man, because the dog likes to eat garbage and UPS men. So we brought the dog inside, onto the rug just inside the door. That’s the only place he’s allowed, besides the little boys’ room and the route to the little boys’ room.
We were living our lives along, and all of a sudden, I hear someone pull up. “UPS is here!” someone yelled. I look out the window and do I see UPS? Sure, but I also see FedEx! Well, I go out there to get the packages, and the FedEx guy says, “I heard you had a mean dog! Where is he?”
The UPS guy had gotten out by then, and was laughing. He’s one of the UPS guys that tolerates the dog. Some of them are terribly afraid of Duke! I’m not sure how the FedEx guy knew about Duke, because I’d never seen him before, maybe the UPS guy told him.
“He’s inside,” I said, and got the package from the FedEx guy. The UPS guy came up so I got the package from him, too, and they turned to go to their trucks. As I was going in the house, however, I heard the FedEx guy say to the UPS guy, “So, where ya goin’ today? Anyplace fun?”
I went in, and peeked out the kitchen window. They stood there, talking in our yard, for a good three minutes or so! Then they left.
I thought it would have been really funny had the garbage man showed up at the same time as well!

I think the garbage man would’ve been too intimidating. You know, when they talk to their own kind, it’s ok, but once they get that high….
