It's kinda sad, but kinda cool, when people grow up and cross another milestone.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

March 15th, 2008

Yes, my friends…today is St. Patrick’s Day, not the 17th. Why? Well, St. Patrick’s Day is always on the 17th of March, except when the 17th falls on “holy week” (the week between Palm Sunday and Resurrection Sunday). Then, it’s celebrated the 14th or 15th of March.

Are you wearing your green? If not…*pinch*!

We wear green maybe, and instead of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, we celebrate cabbage going on sale. Tonight we had cabbage soup, which we call borscht (it’s rather a version of borscht, I guess…but totally not traditional!), and tomorrow we’ll have eggrolls. If you can make it you’re invited!

Speaking of eggrolls, our family has been “hired” to make 1000 eggrolls for our friends’ fundraiser; they’re having a fundraiser to adopt a little girl named Annie from the Philippines! Sound like fun? Totally! It’s gonna be a blast!

P.S. for Pi day, we had cake! Ben bought us an ice cream cake from Mr. Thrifty’s because Mom thought there wouldn’t be enough pies for company tomorrow night, but there were ten berry pies and four pumpkin so she figured 14 pies was enough for breakfast today, dessert today, and dessert tomorrow!

Pi Day?! COOL! Y’all seriously celebrate that?! I’ve never even thought of it before.
    Not I want pie.

AND I’m just gonna pretend I didn’t read that about the Holy Week and St Patrick’s being today. It was on the school calendar as tomorrow, so I’m just gonna go with tomorrow. Hmph. I have a green wig and everything. lol

I wish I could come help make and eat eggrolls. I love them.
    Happy times to ye!
