All Things Anne

As some of you…many of you…? OK, well, as some of you may know, our family has a rule, of no sweets in January, because we eat so many in December. So, on December 31st, at 10pm, I made some brownies, thanks to my friend Tabitha for the recipe. I was moaning to her about how I was going to miss sugar and stuff, and how I should make some brownies for one last hurrah. So she gave me her mom’s brownie recipe.
“Are they the fudgiest brownies?” I asked, and she assured me they were.

I doubled the recipe for a 9×13, because it didn’t look like much…but it raised a lot more than I expected. I also doubled the cooking time.

If you think you’ve had good brownies before…you should try these…rich, fudgy, chocolaty brownies. MMMMMMM. I’m making myself hungry here!

Tabitha’s Mom’s Brownies
1 1/3 cup Flour
3/4 cup Cocoa
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 Salt
1 2/3 cups Sugar
3/4 cup Butter, melted
2 Tablespoons water
2 Eggs
2 tsp. Vanilla

Combine everything and bake at 350º for 20 mins in a 9×13 pan.

Like I said, I doubled everything, and doubled the bake time as well. And they turned out absolutely AWESOME!!

Anyway. I should wrap this up now before I’m really tempted to make some more! Hmm…now there’s an idea…I wonder how Dad could resist fresh-baked brownies at…say, week two. (And since he reads my blog he’ll get this in email and the surprise will be spoiled!) He says he’s adamant about lasting the whole month. We’ll have to wait and see!

Joe got his camera battery and cord in the mail today, so very shortly I’ll have up the trip post! My Dad suggested doing it in parts, which I may still do…we’ll see.

So says my winner’s certificate! Now I need to figure out a title so I can print that on the certificate and hang it on my wall with my 2006 winner’s certificate. (Yes, I gave up last year, but I won’t again…at least I’ll sure try not to!)

To answer a few questions:
» No, I probably won’t show this year’s novel to anyone. It’s really terrible, but that’s alright…writing doesn’t always have to be perfect…and writing doesn’t always have to be shared either.
» Now that this NaNoWriMo is over, I’m free to do other things…such as edit my 2007 novel, The Impossible Wish, so it can be published and so you can read it.
» Yes, I’m having a party…it’s called the “Finish off the big milk-chocolate-with-almonds candybar party”. Sound good? It is! Don’t you wish you could come?
» No, I’m not quite finished, either; I need to wrap it up then I’ll be done. Probably under two thousand more words.
» Yes, I’m insane.
» And yes, if you want, I’m still taking donations for this shirt!!

And for the record…I love bars.
