Bonny Scotch Lass
First of all, you have to know (in case you didn’t before) that our family has Scottish ancestry, and our last name originally was Scottish (the misspelling, which we use now–long story, is Irish). Scottish people have clans, complete with tartans, badges, war cries, etc. Beth and I are into Scottish stuff, so last time we were in Oregon, Papa (Dad’s dad) gave her and I “Scotch bonnets” (tams) made out of our clan’s tartan. Papa also gave me a length of wool cloth in our tartan.
I have this dress that’s blue denim, and it has a plaid vest-front on it, and the plaid is almost exactly like our tartan. The other day I got the bright idea to wear this dress and my Scotch bonnet. Unfortunately, none of my jackets or anything matched. (If you’re a girl, it’s pretty important to be coordinating…at least, if you’re an average girl.) So then I got another bright idea…and took out the length of wool cloth. Beth helped me a little, and I wore it like a shawl, clasped with a pin Grammoo had given me (one of our ancestors made it, but I don’t remember which one).
I thought I might be a little cold, so I wore some pretty gloves my friend’s family gave me for my birthday last year. Worked perfectly!
At one place we shopped, a lady said I looked “so cute in that tam”!

I’m not just into it, I’m head to toe in it!
I LOVE our scottish ancestry!
