Kids are Cute

Monday, August 28th, 2006

Here’s a bunch of funny things my siblings have said recently that I’ve posted on my HSB blog.

This Kid Knows His Mind
Last night we “jammed” for a while in the little tiny room fondly dubbed the “studio”. Every once in a while Jay would come up and clap or nod his head to the music.
At one point Dad said, “I think he’ll be the next drummer.”
“Jay, do you want to play bass, guitar, drums, or sing?” I asked him.
He looked all shy, and dimpled. “Listen,” he said.

My Pants are Broke
Sadly, yes. See, you have to understand…I haven’t grown–vertically–since I was 14, so most of my clothes still fit. I have had the same pair of jeans (and same pair of overalls) for five years, and just now I’ve worn a hole in the left knee (and almost in the right) of my jeans.
So today, I was standing in the living room…and Jay comes up to me. He gives me a hug, then looks down at my gaping jeans knee and said “Anne, your pants are broke!”

Abby
Abby’s so funny. She’s gotten into this (bad) habit of not eating her dinner.
Dad said “Do you want it for breakfast, babycakes?”
I think she said “No”. A little later I went to give her a bite, and she said, “No…dad said uh breakfast.” (in other words, “No, Dad said I could have it for breakfast.”)

Fixed a bunch of bugs on my site; validated it yesterday!! Man I was so proud of myself (still am). To me, validation (with a cool template, of course) is the epitomy of geek. Sure…laugh. Changed the pinkish/mauve color to more pinkish; the mauve really got on my nerves.

Moving up on Google; page two, second one. Unfortunately I have to compete with Anne Geddes, Anne Rice, Anne Frank (she’s DEAD, people!) and some guy named Anne van Kesteren (yes, it’s a guy. I emailed him once.).

Submitted my site to a few review sites…first time I’ve ever done that. I’m interested to see what they all have to say. Some of my friends like it…some are ambivalent…my bro Joe is pretty vague about whether or not he likes it. Oh well. So as I said I’m very interested to see what “professional” people think of it.

Does anyone know how to fix a password-protected page that won’t recognize the right password?

EDIT: Validated the front page…have to check the rest. ;)

I can do the impossible!

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

Night before last, I did the impossible…I flopped an impossible pie. It was impossible custard. It TASTED fine, but FELT gross. Tasted kind of like lasagna, really.
What is an impossible pie?
Well, an impossible pie is supposed to be impossibly easy and impossible to fail. But I did it.
I guess I can now say I have done the impossible!

Fair

We played music at the fair yesterday, and are going again in a few minutes. :D We saw a human cannonball, and I folk danced with some people.
